I might as well post a hello. I haven't been able to think of anything to post since I started this blog so I decided I would just mention how much I'm learning in the Centre for Arts and Technology. I wasn't sure I would be able to keep up with the curriculum when I first came here but I wanted to try anyway. So far it's been great. I've learned a lot about myself from my Professional Development class and if I had to compare it to anything I would say it's my connect the dots. The things I'm learning seem to be connecting to how I live my life and sometimes explain why I do things the way I do. In Life Drawing I've been learning and testing out new techniques which have improved the way I draw people. I'm noticing differences between how I saw things before and how I see them now. I'm also able to draw a lot faster. Also, I've been learning about the history of animation in my Introduction to Animation course. We've learned about Disney's development and even went so far back as the first 'moving pictures' such as the Magic Lantern(1650) and the Thaumatrope (1824).
Even though I've been learning lot's in my courses I think I've learned the most in Character Animation; although, that could be because I have more CA classes than anything else. This is the class where we actually make our animations. So far I've learned the importance of Stretch and Squash, timing, anticipation, action, and reaction to name a few. We've made sixteen animations so far and are now in the process of making two more: a jumping flour sack and a character jump.
Overall, I'm glad I came here and hope to learn much more from my instructors and hopefully come to produce even better works over time. Once I figure out how to post videos on my blog I will definitely do so. I look forward to posting more and I hope you enjoy.
